I was approached by Oxford Policy Fellowship to provide them with a rebrand. Through interviewing OPF it was clear that the brand was out of date with the tone of voice. Current assets weren't getting out to audiences and a customer base was being missed.
OPF is a unique development programme. Low- middle-income countries are provided with lawyers as civil servants who are able to help negotiate better terms with aid agencies, strengthen national policies and legislative frameworks. This fundamentally helps achieve sustainable development.
Ahead of a reworking of the website the rebrand was to focus on typography, iconography, colour usage and imagery. Guidelines would then feed into a reworked UI.
The previous OPF brand was sparse and assets had been created on an ad-hoc basis. The logomark was the only industry recognised asset so it was important to use it as a framework
To bring energy into the brand I looked at colour combinations and typography pairings. After creating these key visual elements for the brand I created reports that would test the design against the criteria set.
An extensive set of brand guidelines helped to define the new brand with the OPF team and its fellows. Assets were designed to enable the internal team to create their own reports, powerpoints, or social posts. These have since been widely adopted.
Brands are largely consumed digitally but often brand identities fail to consider UI. This can lead to inaccessible sites that try to squeeze in the 'brand' or vice versa; sites that have a little brand identity and lack emotion.
Branded UI guidelines were created as a handover document ahead of a website overhaul.
Phil supported our organisation when undergoing a brand refresh. In a short period of time, he put together detailed brand guidelines and polished templates. Throughout the process, Phil was both highly responsive and receptive to our ideas and needs. I was thrilled with the outputs he created and hope to collaborate further in the future.
